19th Century Notebook on Legerdemain. 1830s. Small cloth notebook, sewn, ?Matthew? stamped in black on front cover. 16mo (5 ? x 3 ??). The first 73 pages with manuscript descriptions to various effects of legerdemain, chemical magic, and amusements, some with illustrations, most of which appear to have been copied from an edition of The Boy?s Own Book. Balance of the notebook consists of several incomplete entries to other magical effects, and partial index at rear. One page has been signed George and William Boscawen with date of January 1832. A few detached leaves, some tears and chipping.
