Aetna Dynamite. Circa 1890s. Explosives advertising poster depicting a wooded scene with a smoldering crater and a split rock. The Aetna Powder Co was incorporated in Chicago in 1880 and began producing dynamite at a plant in Aetna, a neighborhood in Gary, Indiana. The company flourished in the years before World War I. Only one other poster for the company is known, designed by Edward Penfield in 1895. Linen backed. 15 x 11?. A. RARE.
