Ninth and final edition, the first to contain Rawley's life of Bacon. Full contemporary calf, rebacked, gilt-lettered title label to spine. Engraved portrait of Bacon, engraved title page, title page box-ruled in red and black. Head and tail pieces. Variant issue with ?LIEE" error in place of ?LIFE" on title page. Folio in sixes. Binding quite rough with corners rounded and repaired; contents generally clean with only minor spotting, chips, and foxing.
