BARNUM, P.T. (1810 ? 1891). Autograph letter signed, to Edwin Chapin. Hartford: January 19, 1879. Two pages, on engraved and lined State of Connecticut stationery, to minister Edwin Chapin (1814 ? 1880). Barnum, a promoter and supporter of Universalism, attempts to persuade Chapin to visit Bridgeport and preach at Barnum's church. Each leaf 8 1/8 x 5". Archivally matted with a later portrait of Barnum, overall 14 ? x 25". Provenance: purchased from Dennis Holzman Antiques, 2017.
