Bartenders and Waiters Union Founder Banner. Circa 1880s. Hand painted canvas with wooden rod along bottom. Founded in Chicago, this was the first hospitality union and was formed in 1866, soon after the close of the Civil War. Creasing, surface dirt, two holes to the right side of the sitters head, significant staining to top portion and left side, and tearing, notably a long vertical tear at top right measuring approximately 28 ?". Good condition. Third-party transportation required. Unrolled 109 x 78 ? x 1 ?".
