[BEARSKIN PLATE]. Grenadier of the ?Garde Imperiale? Bearskin Plate. [France, ca. 1800s]. First empire embossed metal (brass?) plate of the imperial crowned eagle flanked by flaming grenades and flaming arrows clutched in the eagle?s talons. Approximately 10 ? x11 ??. Mounted onto a later frame by two nails (easily removable). Frame size approximately 6 ? x 8 ?? . Some wear due to age and wear, including some bumping, creasing. Still, a fine example.
