BERTRAM, Charles (James Bassett, 1853 – 1907). Theatrical Contract for Magician Charles Bertram. Dated March 31, 1886, Bertram agrees to appear at the Brighton Aquarium for one week beginning on April 5, 1886 and will present two shows each day, “each performance to last not less than 45 minutes.” One 4to sheet, with the aquarium’s rubber stamp of acceptance in the upper left and SIGNED “Charles Bertram” and initialed by him again underneath a handwritten amendment in which he agrees to present one further show, “pro rata” on April 3.
