EXTRA?ILLUSTRATED BY THE ADDITION OF 59 PLATES, several folding and hand?colored. 20th?century half red morocco gilt, raised bands, gilt lettering and framing in compartments, top edges gilt, stamp?signed by Morrell. Provenance: William Alfred Foyle of Beeleigh Abbey (1885?1963), a notable bookseller and bibliophile who formed one of the largest English private libraries of the 20th century (his bookplates). His library was sold en bloc at Christie?s London 11 July 2000 (this copy being sold as part of lot 906), realizing some $16,000,000 which was the single most valuable collection of books ever to be sold at auction in Britain or Europe; Robert Allan (bookplate).
