[BISCUIT PORCELAIN]. Bonaparte Portrait Platre Wall Medallion. [N.p., ca. 1800s, though possibly later]. This striking medallion of the young Bonaparte models well known heroic images of the early 1800?s and the rise to power. Approximately 6 ?? in diameter. The handsome portrait was made in natural 'platre' or 'biscuit', otherwise known as plaster. The front is inscribed ?Le General Bonaparte? and opposite, ?DAVID?; the reverse is fitted to hang on a wall. There is some chipping on the upper rim, and on a few of the letters, but this is usual for a rare and fragile item such as this. Near fine.
