Black Americana Ventriloquist Figure. Circa 1930. Carved wooden vent figure, being a racist/stereotyped representation of an African American woman, wearing a with patterned silk skirt, painted striped leggings, yellow shoes, a striped blouse, and a straw hat decorated with imitation flowers. With carved wooden hands, carved wooden legs and feet (articulated), and a carved wooden head. With metal earrings, and a realistic wig. Single movement (mouth) operated by internal string. The interior of the figure's chest is crafted from a cardboard window card advertising a stage show of some sort. Height approximately 33". Well preserved with usual wear.
