BLUE, Ben (1901 ? 1975). Ben Blue?s Straw Boater Hat, with an Oil Portrait. A size 7 straw boater hat personally owned by comedian and actor Ben Blue, with navy and light blue grosgrain band. The straw hat was a signature element of Blue?s appearance on stage and in publicity materials. Manufactured by Champ (ca. 1950s) with navy and light blue grosgrain band. Accompanied by an original oil portrait of Blue, framed, painted by Axie Mae Dunlap (signed ?Axie?). Dunlap was Blue?s wife. 20 x 16?. Provenance: Estate of Thomas M. Blue.
