Condition
Some rubbing, soiling to boards, spine label worn and chipped, 2 leaves (71 and 72) with neat cuts to highlight early ink marginal notes (no loss) with some ink notations in text (including the marginal notes mentioned above), some occasional faint creasing. Small label of Libreria Passimi on the ffep. Very good.

This text is interspersed with poems in terza rima, after the example of Boethius and Dante's Vita Nuova. Written in 1341-1342, while Boccaccio was in Florence caring for his elderly father and separated from hsi beloved Fiammetta in Naples, this work is about the civilizing influence of love, the pastoral framework of this piece strongly influenced subsequent Arcadian literature.
