BROWN, Roger (American, 1941-1997) Cloud Mask. ca. 1990. Oil on canvas. 24 ? x 18 x 1 ??. Titled verso. This painting is not in the artist?s catalogue raisonn?. The provenance of this painting is as follows? ?Roger Brown was cleaning out his studio and throwing stuff into a dumpster. The studio was on Halsted somewhere around the 1900 block. My friend was dumpster diving, looking for art supplies and such. Brown came out carrying another load of stuff to throw away. They met and got to talking. Brown told him he could take whatever he wanted as long as he didn't make a mess. The painting was part of the load Brown just brought out. This took place sometime in the early 1990s. Condition. This painting has multiple slashes in the canvas. Surface dirt, accretions, scratches overall.
