[390], [2, blank] pp. Publisher's full green cloth, boards stamped in blind, spine stamped in gilt, publisher's unclipped ("$2.50") dust jacket. FIRST EDITION. LAID-IN IS A CHANGE OF ADDRESS POST CARD ADDRESSED TO HIS LITERARY AGENCY, WITH TYPED TEXT, SIGNED BY CAIN IN BALLPOINT: "& Hello to all Jim". Card is addressed to H. N. Swanson, Inc. (card is approximately 3 x 5 1/2", a bit toned, rubbed). 

Mildred Pierce is the basis of the hit classic 1945 film of the same name directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Joan Crawford; Crawford won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1946. 

Condition

Minor rubbing to cloth, endleaves a bit offset; price on jacket flap with pencil slash through it, some rubbing, minor soiling, creasing to jacket, spine a bit toned, a few marginal short tears, chips. Still, fine.
