In this letter, Carmichael thanks a fan for writing to him but regrets to inform him that due to legal rights he is unable to send handwritten parts of his music out to admirers. Carmichael composed some of the most beloved American songs of the 20th century, among them ?Georgia On My Mind,? ?Stardust,? ?Heart and Soul,? and ?In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening.?
