CARTER, Charles (1870 ? 1936). Carter the Magician Presentation Cigarette Case. Japan: Megumi, ca. 1920 [?]. hinged metal case with gold plated trim bears a silver and gold right-facing bust portrait of Cater on the lid with the text ?Carter The Great Magician" in the lower left corner of the likeness, and a reproduction of Carter's signature in gold on the rear panel. With an adjustable elastic band on one interior panel to hold cigarettes. 3 ? x 3 ?". A few minor scuffs and the closure clasp a bit weak, but near fine condition. This case was most likely a gift given to Carter on one of his tours of Asia.
