Titles include: The Blue Print 1944 (Georgia School of Technology, SIGNED BY CARTER near his picture in the Sophomore class); United States Naval Academy the First Hundred Years (1945), there is a picture of a naval cadet and his date at the "Ring dance," which somewhat resembles Carter and his girlfriend Rosalynn; 1947 Lucky Bag Naval Academy yearbook. With a photo and biography of Carter on p. 176 under the ?Fourth Battalion" section; The Silver Blue and Gold of the Class of 1947 (ca. 1971, SIGNED BY CARTER ON P. 57 under his biography as the Governor of Georgia); U. Carter Protective Detail, and a DVD (?Trachoma Defeating a Blinding Curse") documenting advisers from The Carter Center efforts to fight this disease, in shrinkwrap). Overall, a wonderful, varied lot, celebrating a great serviceman, public servant, and humanitarian. Although much is known of Carter's terms as Governor of Georgia, President of the United States, and humanitarian, less is known about his lauded naval career. He graduated the Naval Academy in 1946 with honors, served 2 years in the surface fleet, then applied for submarine duty. Carter eventually joined Admiral Hyman G. Rickover's nuclear submarine program, helping to design and build the first of the Seawolf submarines. The USS Jimmy Carter, the latest of the Seawolf-class, is, of course, named in his honor.Measurements: 26"L x 24"W x 18"H.
