Chaupat or Viz-Gap-Tam Cased Set of Mother of Pearl Chips. India, ca. 1880. Including 14 chips, six rectangular and eight round set in velvet lined interior and all housed in an elaborately carved ivory case. The Mother of Pearl chips are of the highest most elaborate quality. There are only six rectangular chips but there appears to be no room for two more as they fit snuggly in their velvet compartment. Excellent.
