This auction will feature an extensive offering of gum, candy, and soda advertising and collectibles, in addition to classic slot machines and other coin-operated machines. Vintage American advertising, toys, and games will also be included. We will round out the sale with fine antiques, silver, and decorative art from a Chicago estate, including a large Tiffany & Co. sterling trophy.

[CHOCOLATE]. Binder of chocolate and candy-related documents and ephemera. V.p. (bulk American), late 18th - mid-20th century. 71 pieces, including several early chocolate-related manuscripts, many letterheads and billheads, and advertising envelopes.

Highlights include:

a 1780 manuscript receipt for the bulk purchase of chocolate by Mr. G Dorsey, Philadelphia;

an 1830 receipt for purchase of box of chocolate from Levy Solomon's Co., on engraved billhead;

two (1797 / 1799) deeds for the sale of land by Jonas Welsh, "of Boston...Chocolate Manufacturer,"...;

1840 and 1847 receipts for purchases of chocolate in Boston from Silas Peirce;

and many different documents on engraved or lithographed letterhead.

Housed in a black vinyl album, 12 x 12 x 2", slipcased.
