[CIRCUS - CORRESPONDENCE]. File of letters from M. G. Denham to Bobby Gable. V.p., 1929-34. 44 letters, all but two with original mailing envelopes (nearly all using Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey letterhead and mailing envelopes), and two Christmas cards.
A fairly extensive and interesting group of letters from George "Deafy" Denman (1871 - 1937), who joined Barnum & Bailey at age 17 and became elephant superintendent with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey. The letters, generally one or two pages and penned in Denman's neat cursive, are addressed to Master Bobby Gable of Hollidaysburg, Pa. and Indianapolis, and touch on various aspects of touring with the Ringling Bros., managing elephants, other circuses and circus personnel, and related topics.
Condition
Original mailing folds, scattered wear to envelopes; overall very good.
