Top portion only of a cartridge box. Heavily worn. From the consignor: ?Many years ago, I gave a presentation on Grierson?s Raid to our local Civil War Roundtable. An elderly lady talked to me after the meeting and told me that she had some of the leather ?bags? brought back after a soldier (Blackburn) had been killed while riding with the cavalry gauntlets, but they had been given to another family member. She wanted me to have the ?bags? since she knew that I was interested in Grierson. These are the items she gave me. I have no further provenance.?
