JERVEY ON THE FRONT WRAPPER AND SIGNED BY THE PUBLISHER ON THE TITLE-PAGE. There is another signature on the title-page stating that this copy was presented by Dwight (in an unknown hand). The excerpts in this booklet relate the events at the end of the war from the viewpoint of two Southern women who lived on plantations. Included are passages about the arrival of Union troops, the destruction of their plantations, and the specter of violence and danger. From the renowned personal collection of Dr. George D. Lacy.
