[CIVIL WAR]. MCPHERSON, James Bird Brigadier General (1828-1864). Signed Corps of Engineers Rail Road Employees Roster and Pay Record. Corinth, Mississippi, July, 1862. Printed document with lined area. Autograph list of 35 employees as well as their rate of pay, along with their signatures on the lined area. Signed by McPherson on the verso. Approximately 22 x 17?. Five horizontal and one vertical creases, some wear, soiling. Very good. McPherson had a distinguished career in the field as well as part of the Army Corps of Engineers. Autographs by him are uncommon and sought-after. He died leading troops in the Battle of Atlanta, making him the second-highest ranking Union officer killed in action.
