[Downs, T. Nelson] Collapsible Top Hat Said to Belong to T. Nelson Downs. Antique ribbed black silk top hat, about an inch tall when collapsed, mounted in a gilt wooden frame, and identified as Downs? own. Brim threadbare and frayed in parts. Collection of David M. Baldwin. Acquired by the consigner from Woodrow Carpenter, who obtained many pieces owned by Downs from David and Pauline Coleman, of Terre Haute, Ind., who had in turn acquired the pieces from Downs? widow.
