Illustrated with the famous hand-colored frontispiece of the Circus Mosaic (ca. 180 A.D.) discovered at Lyon, and publisher's engraved vignette on title-page. [viii], 1-20 pp. Half-title present. Original printed wrappers (wrappers detached, chipped, worn, torn, the first few leaves a bit loose, some soiling rubbing, creasing to margins of text). Very good.THE FIRST EDITION OF THIS EXCEEDINGLY RARE PUBLICATION, ONE OF ONLY 60 COPIES PRINTED. The mosaic featured in this publication was discovered in the same year of publication.Measurements: 30"L x 24"W x 1"H.
