Conjuror Automaton. Circa 1880. Elaborately dressed figure raises and lowers two cones adorned with tassels. As he does so, small pearls on the tabletop vanish and appear under the cones. The magician’s head turns back and forth to view the proceedings. The figure, representing a mystic, is dressed in a long robe trimmed with lace, and wears a turban on his head. Porcelain face and hands. Most fabric appears original. With key. Minor repairs evident. Clockwork in good order, finish showing minor wear, but timing of mechanism and head movement in need of adjustment.
