Publisher's full green cloth, front board ruled in black and with central gilt stamp, spine ruled and lettered in gilt (skilfully recased with restoration to spine ends, text foxed). Still, a fine copy of a scarce publication, better than usually seen. FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, SIGNED AND INSCRIBED BY ARTHUR KITSON ON THE HALF-TITLE PAGE. ALSO INCLUDED IS KITSON'S INSCRIBED BUSINESS CARD MOUNTED ON THE FRONT FREE END LEAF. Inscription reads as follows: ?To Effie With Love and best wishes for the future from the author Arthur Kitson MCMXL". Card inscription: ?To Miss Effie Brown with love and best wishes from / [printed] Mr. A. Kitson / Xmas 1908." Kitson presents an accurate chronology of Cook's career on the ?Eagle', ?Pembroke', ?Northumberland', ?Endeavour' and Cook's 2nd and 3rd Pacific voyages.
