COOLEY, Spade (1910?1969). Signed Photograph. Circa 1940s. Photograph of Spade Cooley in western attire. SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Cooley. Stamped in red verso: ?Don't Miss? Foreman Phillips County Barn Dance / Every Friday-Saturday-Sunday Nites / Spade Cooley's Barn Dance Boys / Venice Pier (Venice, California)". Cooley, known as the ?King of Western Swing" was tried and convicted for the murder of his second wife, Ella Mae Evans, in 1961. 10 x 8". Dampening stain upper left, else very good.
