COOPER, Austin (1890-1964). See India / Amber. London: The Lochend Printing Co. Ltd., ca. 1930s. Color lithograph poster depicting a decorated elephant with howdah on its back in a procession below the city walls of Amber (Amer) in Jaipur. 40 x 24 7/8?. Linen backed. Creases and short closed tears. A-/B+. Cooper designed over 50 posters for the London Underground, many examples of which are held at the London Transport Museum. This is perhaps one of only a few posters he designed for destinations outside London or the British Isles.
