CORDINER, Charles (c.1746?1794. Antiquities & Scenery of the North of Scotland, in a Series of Letters to Thomas Pennant, Esq. London: 1780. Small 4to (248 x 184 mm). Itinerary and list of plates at rear. Engraved title vignette, 21 engraved plates including one folding (offsetting from plates to text, title foxed). Contemporary tree calf rebacked with modern spine antique retaining original endpapers, raised bands, red morocco lettering?piece gilt, compartments gilt (corners restored, some foxing to endpapers). FIRST EDITION, of one of the early contributions to the construction of a romantic image of the Scottish highlands.
