CRABBE, George (1754-1832). Autographed letter signed by George Crabbe, dated 27 September 1819. Cromer, UK. 178 x 140 mm. Embossed ?Bath? at upper left corner. Mounted on larger paper, 191 x 142 mm. Crabbe writes, ?Sir, I learn from Trewhedge that a letter from you has been received there (sp.). I shall be at Home, I believe, in about 3 weeks, when I will give you such reply as I shall think it my duty to give (sp.). Your very obedient servant, Geo. Crabbe.? Accompanied by engraving of George Crabbe, possibly removed from a book. George Crabbe was an English poet and clergyman whose work primarily took the form of heroic couplets. His work was so revered that Lord Byron once remarked he was ?nature?s sternest painter, yet the best.?
