Each volume with false title-page in English (both dated 1816), both have French title-pages (both dated 1807). Bound in contemporary full green straight-grain morocco, boards elaborately ruled and paneled in blind and gilt, spines lettered and tooled in gilt in compartments, all edges gilt, gilt board edges and turn-ins, marbled endleaves (spines sunned and worn, bindings worn and soiled, hinges starting, text foxed, vol. 1 text dampstained). Good. EARLY EDITIONS, VOL. 1 SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR ON THE ENGLISH HALF-TITLE. From the collection of Paul E. Bechet, with his bookplate on both fps.
