DAVIS, Stuart (1892-1964). Autograph Postcard Signed (?Stuart Davis?) to art critic Henry McBride. American modernist artist?s manuscript message in ink, on a postcard for the Independent Artists Exhibit at the Waldorf Astoria, addressed to Henry McBride, the art critic for the NY Sun & Herald, postmarked March 23, 1920. Davis, responding to a review by McBride, indicates that his paintings were done in Hoboken, New Jersey, not in Cuba, and that ?I am sorry to say I spent a great deal of time on them otherwise your review is correct especially about the ?Talent?.?
