Solomko was one of Russia's most popular illustrators of the late nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century (even though he moved to Paris in 1910). He also created designs for the Imperial Porcelain Factory and the House of Faberg?, as well as designed elaborate traditional Russian costumes for various costume balls. He fell out of favor after the Russian Revolution, but his work has been re-appraised and has become popular again for his beautiful depictions of old Russian culture. The artwork in this title doesn't depict Russian culture, but ancient Greek mythology and history. From the collection of Louis A. Irmo.Measurements: 11"L x 10"W x 2"H.
