DERLETH, August (1909-1971). Someone in the Dark. Sauk City, Wisconsin: Arkham House, [1965]. 8vo. 355, [1] pp. Publisher's black cloth with spine lettered in gilt in original unclipped ("$2.00") illustrated dust jacket. SPURIOUS 1965 ARKHAM HOUSE REPRINT EDITION, LIMITED TO 300 COPIES.

In 1967, Derleth sold these reprints for $5.00 as an unearthed cache of original inventory, claiming the spurious editions were 1941 first editions. 300 copies of the reprint were produced by Hunter Publishing Co. in Winston–Salem and likely authorized by Derleth himself, distinguished from the first editions by size and the use of endbands, not present in the original printing.

Condition

Substantial toning to rear cover, minor edge wear and paper loss, spine darkened, light water damage. Minor spotting to endpapers. Else near fine.
