DISNEY, Walter E. (1901 - 1966). Typed letter signed to Chester Morris. [Np]: 31 August 1955. One page, on a sheet of Disney's personal stationery, to the actor Chester Morris (1901 - 1970). Disney responds to Morris's suggestion of doing a "series of Horse Operas with kids," and replies that similar programming will be featured in the upcoming debut of the Mickey Mouse Club Show ( assumed to be the "Spin and Marty" series, premiering shortly after in November, 1955). In part:
"As the Mousketeers (that's the name given these kids) become known to the television audience, it is our plan to put them in a Western Series, such as you suggest. Every Friday, the Mouseketeers appear in Western outfits for the "Roundup," where they round up other kids to appear on the show.
The letter also gives a personal look into the worries of Walt's ambitious venture, confessing that the program is 1,000,000 over budget, and admitting his uncertainty about its success.
Signed boldly in ink, "Walt Disney."
