Watson, along with Francis Crick (1916-2004) discovered the double-helix structure of DNA (along with the contributions of Rosalind Franklin (1920-1858) and Maurice Wilkins (1916-2004)) in 1953; he (and Crick) won the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1962 (which they shared with Wilkins; Franklin had died earlier and was not eligible). John Sulston won the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 2002, along with his colleagues Sydney Brenner and Robert Horvitz.
