DOWNS, T. Nelson (1867-1938). Two Autograph Letters Signed to David P. Abbott. Both written in Downs? characteristic ?whorly? script on Marshalltown, Iowa Elks Home stationery, and describing in great detail the instructions for an effect called ?The Spirit Aces.? One letter is two pages in length, the other is three pages and are dated May 24 and 27, 1917, respectively. Three-hole punched at left edges, several creases, some mild wear. Good condition. Though Downs often boasted of his prowess as a sleight of hand artist, the effect he describes in these letters requires the use of a gimmicked card.
