Original publisher?s pictorial grey green cloth blocked in dark blue, gilt?lettered spine (cover and spine decoration gently rubbed, else fine). Provenance: Crawshaw (contemporary signature on title?page); J. Johnston (contemporary inscription on ffep dated June 1902). FIRST COLONIAL EDITION, FIRST ISSUE published on 2 April 1902, from Longman?s Colonial Library for distribution in India and the British Colonies. 13,000 copies were prepared at the end of March and issued on 2 April 1902. 2,000 more copies were issued in September. A desirable edition.
