DURANTE, Jimmy (1893 ?1980). Jimmy Durante Personally Owned Hat. A Golden Gate Hat Co. ?Philadelphia? model wool hat, owned by comedian, actor, and musician Jimmy Durante. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Rose Marie Guy (1923 ? 2017), dated 7 June 1994 and stating that the hat was a gift to her from Durante?s wife, Marge Durante, ?because I was very close to both of them and I did an impersonation of him [Jimmy Durante] in my act.? In the letter, Rose Marie presents the hat to magician Tom [Mullica] (1948 ? 2016). Included in the hat box are several Durante and Rose Marie articles including: a black bow (presumably owned by Durante but not explicitly stated in the accompanying letter); a Baby Rose Marie advertising card; and a copy photo of Rose Marie with Durante. Rose Marie Guy (1923 ? 2017); Tom Mullica (1948 ? 2016).
