EMMER. Jet DC-8. Bologna: Bodoniana, 1960s. Poster depicting an Alitalia McDonnell Douglas DC-8 jetliner, the Western and Eastern hemispheres within a giant numeral eight. 38 ? x 26 15/16?. Linen backed. Repaired tears around edges; several expertly replaced losses along left side and left corners. B+. Alitalia ordered six DC-8 jets, powered by Rolls Royce Conway engines, from McDonnell Douglas in 1959 for its long-range intercontinental routes, with a scheduled delivery date of early 1960. By the mid-1960s its fleet had increased to 12 Douglas jets.
