FIMPLE, Vernon (American, 1930-2018). Eden Revisited. 1961. Oil on panel. Signed and dated lower left. 44 x 48". Frame 46 x 50". Very eccentric, dark and surreal narrative for this beautifully executed painting from the early 60s. Characters in this painting include: A down and out Salvation Army Santa Claus, a vegetable seller, woman in bra and underwear, man possibly holding a swaddled baby voyueristically looking at a nude couple in an embrace, and a few more non-sequitur visitors. Condition
Light surface dirt. One longer light scratch in lower right quadrant. Overall good condition.
