This set, although incomplete, contains her most important work, Uncle Tom's Cabin, or Life Among the Lowly (1851). This popular novel was so influential against the brutality of slavery, it is commonly thought to be one of the causes of the Civil War (it is also the only novel in Printing and the Mind of Man (#332, the other books in this exhibition were all non-fiction).
