Bound to style in modern full brown calf, boards triple-ruled in blind, spines tooled in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, brown and dark brown gilt morocco lettering labels, gilt board edges (spines a bit sunned, rubbed, occasional scuffing to boards, some foxing in text). Fine. NEW EDITION, printed posthumously. Gilpin was a clergyman and travel writer; he is credited with originating the idea of the ?picturesque.?
