With foldout color frontispiece, "The Harpooner's Carouse," plus several inserted plates. [6, blank], [viii], 1-354, [I]-X, [4, blank] pp. Printed on handmade paper. Publisher's quarter tan morocco backstrip over boards, spine lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, handmade paper endleaves and matching slipcase, printed numbered slip laid-in. FIRST EDITION, #97/125 COPIES. 

Although this was intended to be the first of three volumes, this was the only one published. Scarce. 

Condition

Spine a bit sunned, minor rubbing, soiling to binding; minor toning, rubbing to slipcase. Fine.
