[FOLK ART PAINTING] (American, 19th century). Elsie Nearing the Lighthouse. Not dated. Oil on canvas laid to panel. Signed F. Sieck. 14 x 18 ??. Frame: 19 ? x 24?. The German Barque Elsie is a ship that brought immigrants from Bremmen to New York during the mid 1800?s. The lighthouse possibly could be the old Staten Island light in New York harbor. Laid to panel later. Surface dirt. Some craquelure. Abrasion at perimeter edges. No inpainting. Other minor light marks. Very good condition for age.
