On a 4to sheet of ?Supreme Master of Magic? letterhead, dated 10 Sept. 1926, Montevideo, Uruguay, George brings Powell up to date on his South American tour after more than a year since their last correspondence, relating some of the successes and hardships of performing in a foreign country. In part: ?It is a great disappointment to me not to be hearing anything ? or very little ? from my friends. And while a great amount of success has been my lot, I am always looking at a goal ahead ? a goal ever alluring which always seems just a little bit further on. I have played the important cities of Brazil, of Argentina, and of Uruguay ? big theatres (the best of nearly every city) but it has been a hard struggle ? particularly because of my inability to speak the languages??
