Vellum document. Approximately 12 ? x 16?. Wax seal underpaper, present though loose. 3 vertical creases, some soiling, marginal creases, stab-holes at right and left margins. Near fine. Appointment, on behalf of King George III, of Percival Purcel as second major to Lieutenant-Colonel Gray, commanding an infantry battalion. Pitt, First Earl of Chatham, was Prime Minister of Great Britain from July 1766 to October 1768.
