GREY, Zane (1872-1939). Partial handwritten manuscript for ?The Heritage of the Desert?. Lackawaxen, PA: 1910. 76 pages, 4to, 203 x 254 mm, holographic emendations and corrections in pencil (scattered creases or soiling). Comprises the latter portion of chapter 3 through chapter 7 of Zane Grey?s sixth published novel. Written while his wife was pregnant with their first child, The Heritage of the Desert proved to be a massive bestseller and was later adapted into a 1932 motion picture starring Randolph Scott and directed by Henry Hathaway, who would go on to direct the classic westerns The Sons of Katie Elder and True Grit.
