HALEY, Alex (1921-1992). Archive of 7 Items Related to Haley's Various Television Endeavors. [V.p., ca. 1970s-1980s]. 3 items signed or inscribed by Haley. Items include: TV Guide (Jan 21-27, 1978) with loose typed note signed by Haley about the article in TV Guide; Reader's Digest bound excerpt from Roots in wrappers, inscribed by Haley to Louis and Evelyne Blau; "My Search for Roots" Reader's Digest Reprint in self-wrappers, inscribed by Haley to Louis and Evelyne Blau; 11 pages on legal-sized paper, rectos only, typewritten introduction to an album, most likely Alex Haley Tells the Story of His Search for Roots (1977), with corrections by hand (unlikely to be by Haley - probably another writer, Adam Somers - these sheets are signed by Haley at the bottom, but these signatures appear to be facsimiles of some sort); the June 1974 issue of Reader's Digest with part II of Roots; first draft of "A Two-Hour Original Television Motion Picture Story Projected to Be the Pilot for a Televison Series by Alex Haley" (this became the Norman Lear-produced series, Palmerstown U. S. A.), 103 page photocopied script plus title-page, rectos only; small production sign, "Haley-Tat Productions Now Filming Kings of the Hill" on thin board (it is unclear if Kings of the Hill was ever filmed, or if it was an earlier title for Palmerstown, U. S. A. )
